Honey's Musician's Corner

June
10, 2008
Hello Friends,
I am so excited about our new site and I know all of you are going to
appreciate all the hard work that went into it to give you a more
comprehensible and interesting site with lots of pictures and
information. Also you have the ability to participate in the site with
pictures that you take and also signing in to the Guestbook. There's
also a FAQ section with answers to the most asked questions. I've spent
hours going through old pictures that I know you're going to enjoy. I
didn't realize how young we were when we started out!! When you're a
musician there really is a complete history of your career with photos.
We have thousands and I'll share the best ones with you over time. If
you have any suggestions to make the site even better, please let us
know.
I'd like to thank Franky Bruneel, our new webmaster for all of his great
ideas and hard work. Franky founded and still runs Belgium's only blues
magazine called "Back To The Roots", is a blues promoter and a
good friend of ours since 1988. As you can
imagine, he has been working many nights and weekends for us and we are
so very grateful. This new site is completely his "baby". But he has
given me so much homework that I feel like I'm back in school. I'm
almost done now, thank goodness, and I can't wait to hear how you like
it.
I'm still in shock and very excited about winning the BMA (Blues Music
Award) for 2008. It's called the Pinetop Perkins Piano Player of the
Year Award, or something like that. I don't have it here to look at what
it's actually called so I'm guessing. As I told you in the last Blast,
my father has it in Modesto (7 hours away from me) and in order to get
it back I need to go for a visit. Then I will steal it back!! I wanted
him to have it for awhile so that he can feel good about all the money
he spent on piano lessons when I was a little girl. See... it wasn't all
for nothing!!! I have a statue and a career to show for it. Thanks Dad.
And Mom too. Actually, my mom was the one who insisted I practice one
hour each day. And she also would make me play when company came over. I
guess she was getting me over my stage fright at an early age. I can
remember them giving me 25 cents to pay for my lesson each week. I guess
that was a long, long time ago. And a great big THANK YOU (yes, I know
capital letters are called 'shouting' in computer lingo) to all of you
who have supported me in your hearts over all these years. And thanks to
those of you who actually voted for me. You've made me very happy. It
was a long-time dream come true.
So I hope you all enjoy the new site. I'll see you when you make it out
to a gig. Hey, I'm ALWAYS there. But you have to get up off the couch
and put on some clothes and drive somewhere at night on a night off. Now
THAT sounds very, very difficult. (I won't go anywhere but my couch when
I have a night off!!!) But you are Bluesmen and Blueswomen capable of
the extreme and the impossible. I know you can do it. See you real soon.
Love,
Honey
